Superman Pole restored to approximated original condition, using American condiments, for public viewing at the old Ballard Safeway at Weapons of Mass Distraction on May 31, after 2 months weathering outside on Post Alley as part of Series Three: Saturate.
Process and Materials:
Photocopied original poster bits and vintage comic book ads painted, bruised (with dirt, grease, mould and rust) and attached to a 9 foot tall Seattle City Light Utility Pole with staples plucked from standing poles around Seattle. Superman Pole Weathered while outdoors on Post Alley from April 5 - May 26, 2003. He was brought in from the alley and restored to approximately original condition (cosmetized) for public viewing using Heinz Ketchup, Miracle Whip, Dec-A-Cake Icing, Hershey's Chocolate Syrup and Kraft Spray Cheese.
